Pheropsophus Verticalis
The Bombardier Beetle, Pheropsphus Verticalis, is a ground beetle (Carabidae) consisting of over 500 species with one found in Australia. It is 1.2 - 1.8 centimeters long and black with yellow spots. It is a unique insect in that it has an interesting and intimidating defense mechanism when threatened, giving the creature it's name.
